Whiting Community School will be hosting the Iowa High School Speech Association Individual District Contest on Saturday February 23, 2019! More information to come!
Come in and enjoy some warm soup and desserts in the Whiting school lunchroom! Free will donation towards the bi-annual Spanish class trip! Then support the Warriors in their last home basketball games of the season! The Senior players will also be honored during the games!!
The student council at Whiting Community Schools is putting together baskets to be raffled off during our last home game on February 4. Katie Bruening is looking for some more ideas on organizations/business that would be willing to donate items! If you know of anyone or would be willing to help, please let Katie know! All proceeds will be donated back to the Newlon family, who unfortunately lost a child and a father. Thanks!!
On January 19th, the District Large Group Speech Contest was held at West Monona. The following groups from Whiting qualified for state contest (you must receive a one rating to qualify for state): HICK Radio (Landon Christensen, Nick Ethier, Alex Menke, Noah Hutt, Jason Hanner), Reader’s Theatre (Allison Stokes, Kirsten Myers, Halle Murray, Cadence Morton, Sapphire Bennett, Dena Nichols), Group Improv ( Semia Aldrich, Noah Hutt, Jonny Gage, Cassadi Anderson, Nick Ethier) all received 1 ratings. On Saturday February 2nd, Spencer Schools will be the host site for State Large Group Speech. Congrats and Good luck to all students that qualified for state contest!
The Large Group District Speech contest is scheduled for Saturday, January 19th at the West Monona High School.
Whiting CSD is participating in, Pennies for Patients, a service learning program. Your child will be bringing home a letter and money collection box. You can set up an online fundraising page for your child by following the directions on the letter. This program runs from January 8th-January 29th. A pizza party will be rewarded to the class that fundraises the most money!
Come and enjoy a night of holiday music put on by our Middle School & High School music students! The Middle School and High School Choir and Band will perform some holiday selections conducted by our music teacher, Alicia Vande Hoef. The concert starts at 7:00pm. We hope to see you there!
Come and enjoy a night of Holiday Winter music from the Elementary Students, directed by music teacher, Alicia Vande Hoef. Students ranging from Preschool to 5th Grade will perform a few holiday songs, as well as the 5th Grade Band students. There will also be a Bake Sale from 6:15pm-7:00pm in the concession stand in the main lobby and the bake sale will also continue after the concert is over. Funds raised from the bake sale support the Whiting Community School Music Program. Buy some baked goods and enjoy the music put on by our Elementary students!
For the next two weeks, Whiting will be participating in a Toys For Tots program. We will be collecting new toys to be donated to children whose family can not afford to buy them gifts for Christmas this year. We will end the program with a Teddy Bear Toss on November 29th during the varsity boys game. Everyone is strongly encouraged to be in attendance to participate. If you can’t and would still like to help, bring a stuffed animal to the school office, and Mr. Lamp will hand it to a fan in the stands that evening!
Whiting Community School is hosting the Nebraska Frontier Conference One Act Play on November 19th. Although Whiting will not be participating this year, we would love for the community to come out and watch some amazing plays from our conference. Below is the schedule.

Whiting's annual Veteran's Day Program organized by Whiting’s American Legion Post will be held Friday November 9th, 2018 @ 10:00 AM in the Whiting Community School Gymnasium. We will recognize what Veterans have done for us along with some words from our student body and also performances from the music students in Band and Choir. The public is welcome to attend!
The Book Fair is coming to the Whiting Community School Elementary Library October 29th-November 1st! The Book Fair hours are as follows:
Monday October 29th: 8:30am - 3:00pm
Tuesday October 30th: 8:30am - 7:00pm
Wednesday October 31st: 8:30am - 3:00pm
Thursday November 1st: 8:30am - 5:00pm

The winning school will win $25,000 to enhance the well-being of students, teachers and/or learning environments. Ten runner-up schools will win $1,000 to invest in a health and wellness need at their school.
The kickoff to Whiting High School's Homecoming Week begins Sunday night at 6:00pm with Coronation. The 2018 Homecoming Royalty will be introduced and then the Homecoming King and Queen will be announced. Come and join the excitement for the Fall 2018 Whiting Homecoming Week!
Whiting Preschool Roundup!
Calling all children who are four years old on or before September 15, 2018! Please join us on May 7th at 9:00 a.m. for some preschool fun!
Children should be dropped off at the preschool classroom (606 West Street) at 9 a.m. Children will enjoy a fun preschool preview and meet the teachers! Parents should return at 11:00 a.m. for a short informational meeting and may pick up their children following the meeting.
