Homecoming week is just around the corner as Homecoming Week is October 9th-13th this year. The theme is "Reversed Week." Due to only having Junior Varsity football this year, there is no Friday night games. So this year, the homecoming game is Monday October 9th @ 6:00PM. The Whiting School Board Election is to be held on Tuesday September 12th, 2017. This will be the time when candidates will be selected to serve on the Whiting School Board. If elected, the candidate will serve a 4 year term. Seats up for this election in the Whiting School District will be 3-Director At Large.
May is here and that means that the last day of school is coming up soon. The last day of school is Friday May 26th, 2017 with a 2:30 early out. High School students are preparing for their finals on the last couple days of school while the count down to summer is on for the other students.
Graduation Day is just around the corner and the Whiting Class of 2017 is graduating on May 20th, 2017 at 2:00pm in the Whiting School Gymnasium. We will recognize the graduating class and look back at their time here at Whiting. Come and congratulate the graduates on their special day.
As the Seniors' last day is approaching, it is that time of the year where the Seniors will be recognized for their hard work and encouraged to do well in the next step further in their education. The Baccalaureate Program for Seniors is Wednesday May 17th, 2017 in the Gymnasium.
TIME CHANGE 6:30PM (INSTEAD OF 6) Whiting Community School would like to invite you to see our students be recognized and awarded for their hard work this past school year. Students are recognized for their participation in activities, academics, music, sports, etc. Please consider coming to this event to recognize our hard-working students.
Thursday May 4th, 2017 @ 7:00 pm is the Middle School and High School Spring Concert in the school's gymnasium. The Middle School and High School Choir will play some selections including "Green" and "Step by Step." High School choir will also sing a couple songs including "Geronimo", "Pié Jesu", and more!
The Middle School and High School Mass Band will play some selections including "Comedy Classics" and "Under an Irish Sky" and more. The public is welcome to attend and the students would love to share their music with you all. We hope to see you there!
Whiting High School's Grand March is Saturday April 29th @ 7:00pm in the Gymnasium! This year's theme is "Enchanted Forest." The Junior Class (Class of 2018) has been working very hard with fundraisers all year to make this event happen. Students are excited to show off their fancy outfits they are going to wear that night with their dates. We hope to see you there!
The Annual National Honor Society Induction Ceremony is Tuesday April 25th, 2017 @ 2:30pm in the school's gymnasium. Current NHS Members will speak about what it means to be in NHS and what a quality NHS member should be. Then, the new members will be inducted in a candle lighting ceremony. Come Support our New NHS Members on this special day!
The Whiting Community School would like to invite you to attend their Elementary Spring Concert on Thursday, April 6th at 7:00 pm in the gymnasium. The 5th Grade band will be playing a few short selections followed by the preschool, kindergarten, and first grade groups. The second through fifth grade students will be performing a musical by John Jacobson and John Higgins entitled "Circus Circus." The students have all been working hard and are excited to share their songs with you. We hope to see you there.
Come out and enjoy a night of Bingo and fun at the Whiting Community Center as the Whiting High School Spanish Club is hosting a Bingo Night. There will be a range of prizes available for every winner. Proceeds from this event will go towards the High School Spanish Trip in April. Please consider supporting this event. IHSSA's Northwest Iowa's State Large Group Speech Contest is Saturday February 4th, 2017 in Spencer, Iowa. Whiting has some great Speech pieces from our High School students that made it to State level Speech contest. Check them out on February 4th. Good luck at State!
Come out and enjoy a delicious bowl of soup or chili at the Whiting High School on February 3rd at 5:15pm-7:00pm in the Lunch Room. There will be cinnamon rolls served with every meal. Free-will donations are accepted. Donations towards this event go towards the High School Spanish Trip in April. This is Senior Night as well. We hope you consider this event and hope to see you there!

WHS will be hosting a "Then Feed Just One" packaging event on January 28th, 2017 from 10:00am to 12:00pm. All students, families, and community members are welcome and encouraged to participate! Those wanting to help with this service project can donate money. Look for more information posted at the school, or online at www.thenfeedjustone.org
Please come and listen to music played by our Middle School and High School students on December 15th @ 7:00 PM. Students have been practicing a lot on their songs and look forward to showing them to you. Enjoy a night of holiday music from the Middle School and High School Music Students!
The Whiting Elementary Christmas Concert will be December 8th @ 7:00 pm in the Whiting School Gymnasium. There will also be a bake sale benefitting the school's music program before and after the concert that night. Come and enjoy a night of music from the Elementary students!
The Whiting High School FCCLA members are having a Hygiene Drive at our school. It starts December 6th and ends December 21st. We could use new/unused products such as adult/kids toothbrushes, toothpaste, bars of soap, disposable razors, deodorant, shampoo/conditioner, boxes of tissues, etc. The donations will go to people and families that need it. There will be a box in the school lobby for the donations. We appreciate any and all donations. Thank You!
