Wildcats, Bobcats, and Wolverines Defeat Warriors

The Whiting Warrior girls basketball team has been defeated in their last three competitions. The team took on the Woodbury Central Wildcats last Thursday and the Wildcats took an 8-22 lead closing the 1st quarter. The Warriors fought hard to get back in the game but could never gain any momentum and the Wildcats continued to connect on shots. Senior Bethany Dudley led the Warriors in scoring with 12 points while both Grace Parsley and Alex Dudley contributed 8 points apiece. The gamed ended with a score of 38-72. The Warrior team then traveled to Charter Oak where they played a tough game with the Bobcats. The Warriors were ahead 21-18 at half time but came out slow on defense in the 3rd quarter and allowed the Bobcats to score 13 points. Going into the 4th quarter the game was tied 31-31 but a series of baskets and stops from the Bobcats boosted them to a 48-43 victory over the Warriors. Sophomore Shelby Rodman led the Warriors in scoring with 15 points. Bethany Dudley added 8 points while both Parsley and Alyssa Kirkpatrick contributed 7 points. After the tough loss vs. the Bobcats the Warriors then traveled to Correctionville where they took on the unbeaten Wolverines. The Wolverines offense was too much for the Warriors to stop and the Wolverines took a 46-14 lead at halftime. The Wolverines concluded to win the game 81-30. Parsley led the Warriors in scoring with 10 points. The Warriors are now off to a 1-5 start to the season with games vs. Westwood, West Monona and Charter Oak before Christmas break.
