December 05, 2011
The Warrior girls basketball team is off to a 1-2 start this season. The team opened with Remsen St. Mary's on November 28th and were defeated 41-28. The Warriors couldn't score a basket in the 3rd quarter and the Hawks expanded their 20-12 lead from half to 32-12. Whiting came back to score 16 points in the 4th quarter, surpassing their total points in the first half, but the Hawks lead was too much for them to overcome. Sophomore Shelby Rodman led the Warriors with 8 points while Senior Bethany Dudley added 5 points. The Warriors then traveled to Lawton-Bronson and were defeated by the Eagles 79-20. The Warriors came out to a slow start and could never gain any momentum. Junior Grace Parsley led the Warriors with 7 points.
The first win of the season came against Boyer Valley. The Warriors held the lead from the 1st basket but were never more than 10 points ahead. Rodman led the team with 17 points while Dudley added 8 points. The Warriors had a season high 32 steals and were led by sophomore Alex Dudley with 10.
The team travels to Woodbury Central on Thursday and then Charter Oak on Friday. Both games are scheduled for 6:00 p.m. with boys games to follow. Come out and cheer on the Warriors and thanks for all of your support!
